Habitat: On pilings, rocks, and on the back reef and fore reef; in clumps of coralline algae and dense algal turf and also among encrusting animals such as bryozoans and in sponges. Distribution: Caribbean Natural History Notes: This species reproduces asexually by splitting in two and regenerating lost parts. Depth: Shallow water to 24 m Characteristics: An individual of average size grows to 1.7 mm in disk diameter, with six arms 9.4 mm long. The radial shields are less the half the radius of the disk, distinguishing it from O. savignyi. The disk scales of the dorsal and lateral arm plates have a uniform granular texture. The species has four slender arm spines. The middle one is largest, broadest, and has a thorny tip. The disk is orange, brown, and/or gray; arms are whitish with orange, tan, or brown bands. The species is lightly pigmented.
